i'm josh from vodafone today i'm going to be showing you how to upgrade the software on your blackberry storm. it's very simple to do. and i'm going to show you how to do this over-the-air,right now. here we're gonna show you how to upgrade your storm software over the air as opposed to sending your phone away. or doing it via desktop software on your computer. firstly, you might want to check which version of the software you might have on your storm to do this select options click about

and you'll see the version on the third row down. in this instance the storm is currently using version point, six five to update the software we strongly recommend being in a 3g area again, go to options, go to advanced options. at the bottom you'll see a wireless upgrade-click this. you'll get confirmation of what the upgrade will do. firstly, requests a new software.then download it onto your handset, now upgrade the software on your blackberry device. click next to progress.

again, this will tell you what your current software version is. as we can see, we are still on point, six, five. click the check for updates button. the device will then start requesting information on available updates. as you can see an upgraded version seventy eight is available. select this and you will get a description of the available upgrade. if you're downloading it via vodafone network directly onto the storm. then data charges will apply. click next to continue.

the upgrade request for now be submitted. you're now ready to download the update. the update is 40megabytes in size. click! start download to begin throughout you'll be able to watch the status bar to see how long is left. once a software is downloaded onto thedevice. you can either start the upgrade now or scheduled it for another time. for this video we're going to look at upgrade now. click upgrade now to the progress

you get a message advising , should you start the upgrade you'll be unable to use the device or make emergency calls for up to two hours. just for reference the upgrade i've timed took approximately 40 minutes from start to finish. this can vary depending on the signal strength in your area and the amount of time initially takes to download the upgrade over the network i'd always suggest you doing it during thetime that you don't need to use your phone for the period recommended. once you click upgrade now, the process will begin and you'll see a variety of messages. on your phone screen throughout

such as verifying upgrade. updates to the overall back up process. unpacking upgrade and overall restore process. and so on importantly during the upgrade you may also encounter moments where the screen is black or white. device screen is black or white for afew moments. don't worry it's just part of the procedure. simply leave your blackberry running and the process will continue automatically.
