wrong with the gear box. but you're right, think it was just popping cylinders. >> he's lost two laps and a lot of distance.he's not quite three laps down. the good thing for him is he's half a lap away is david ragenfrom the leader. a a caution would give junior one of those laps back. [1:22:20 pm] >> they told dale junior to cycle through, and the etu and that's what he did and the car fired up.>> the electronic control unit is the box on the dash, we started running that,.>> sometime you have to reset that box and that's what happened. the problem is he'stwo laps down and we need a caution before

the leaders start slapping anybody else forhim to get one of those laps back. >> just like a computer. you know sometimesthere's a malfunction or a glitch and you got to reboot it. that takes time and unfortunately,it cost him two laps. >> these teams are so familiar with thesethings, they've been running them for several years, they know what to do and didn't losea lo lot of time under the circumstances. >> the victims there were david reagan andkurt busch, couldn't get to the bottom and went to the back with junior.>> rookies side by side, chase elliott in the 24, ryan blaney in the 21. 6r .>> watch for dale earnhardt jr. to push the limit.>> he's got to go. and he's two laps down.

>> mike, you look at the k & m series rubberon the race trab from yesterday afternoon. carl edwards told me he didn't know what toexpect for the first 30 laps. he's asking his spotter, tell me the lines that loganois running, so i can try to do the opposite. >> mike, i think it's a big day of start, for the 22 cars. thee been qualifying good, but they're long run program has been lacking.most of the year. that race last evening was run on bias ply tires. these are goodyearradials, the rubber is different. >> a bunch of great battles, we've seen therookies battling it out. >> a gaggle going into three, oh, my goodness.>> it's wild. >> up front, here comes logano on the outside.>> and there's a slow lap car on the bottom

[1:30:30 pm] roll around the bottom really well.>> the lead verse have to get to the bottom, the next slow car, 30, josh wise, is at thetop of the racetrack. just ahead of them,

one to battery two. just spoke with a memberof the team, they said they're not sure what the problem was. they won't know that untilafter when they dig into it. at this point it seems like it has been taken care of andhe has full power. >> matt kenseth, the yellow number 20, huntingthe lead on teammate carl edwards, side by side. kenseth goes to the front.>> do me this is an example of being a little bit too conservative. you trying to work thebottom and roll around the bottom. but it's just not going to get it done. you've gotto get big momentum, make a big move and slide up in front of that car in front of you.>> danica in the 10 car in front of these guys is running just well enough and in thetop groove that when you go by, try to get

on the bottom and go by, you can't make itshe's leaving the bottom open. i believe in the 10, she's doing just what she needs todo. running her line, running her race, let the leaders find somewhere else to get byher. >> you need to separate yourself from thesecond and third-place cars, you can make the pass. when you do, you get passed by someoneelse. [1:32:33 pm] >> you can see the high line off of turn four, not developed to get the big run. it seems like off of turn two, they get a big run.but not enough. think right now, kenseth is saying i want to protect. i've seen what'shappened with carl edwards and joey logano,

until i get a big run, i'm not going to goto the bottom. >> so patrick, in the 10 and josh wise inthe 30 doing a great job, running the high line, staying out of the leader's way andstaying on the lead lap. >> danica, she had a great finish here lastyear. she finished ninth in this race. right now she's just fighting to stay on the leadlap. >> she's doing everything she should be doing.as far as i'm concerned, matt's doing what he needs to do there's no reason for him tomake this pass and unless he starts getting passed from those on the inside. but as youcan see here, logano wants to go, carl wants to go and you got kyle busch that wants toget the lead.

>> i think it's logano. you've got all thegibbs cars racing each other. it's logano that's pushing the issue.>> this goes back to what we talked at the beginning as well, dw, about pressure. doyou put a lot of pressure on danica, force her to make a mistake to get by? that canalso catch you up in it. >> i think you see, joey logano tried thatbottom. but they just can't make it up off the corner.>> i think joey's car rolls around the bottom better than anybody.>> since the drop of the flag, logano and keselowski have had the best luck in the bottomgroove. >> i think he blew a right front tire.>> yellow is ol out.

>> caution is out at lap 52. kyle busch, runningthird. takes a hard hit into the 22. >> right side, pretty good.>> what we got? >> i'm looking at the steering wheel, thesteering wheel looks street. i don't think it hurt the suspension that much. winner ofthe last two, sprint cup races. and runner up yesterday. kyle busch. watch the 18.>> mike, think about this. [1:34:34 pm] think about when you run close to the wall, you don't lit it as hard. because you don't get all that momentum running up to it. hewas pretty close, bounced off the barrier, looked at the steering wheel, i don't thinkit hurt that car that much.

>> you heard that noise before he -->> still green? you heard it pop. >> yeah you can see it's down right there.it got a little bit loose right before that. i wasn't sure if it just, he corrected. butyou know, you could see and hear just like you guys said. the right front pop.>> there are six cars, one lap down. the first of those, michael mcdowell gets the free pass.>> jamie? >> kyle, he told me it sounded a little tight, not bad enough to blow. let's go to vince welch for pit stop.>> marty truex jr. in the 78 pitting from sixth spots, said it's loose on the rubberbuild-up part of the track, but not bad. thatter going to put a round in the right here. chris?>> matt kenseth saying his car is too tight

in the center. he wasn't able to cut underdanica patrick to get off the corner. we saw a small adjustment on the right rear, hopingto loss loosen the car up in the center. >> jamie?>> denny hamlin said he's a little too free to start. he's been adjusting the track barinside the race car. adjusting air pressure on four tires, matt?>> joey logano said he was surprised the track maintained the same balance through the firstrun. he adjusted with the track bar inside the race car. air pressure change on the 22waiting on the left side. the 19 of edwards, he was too free on entry. the chassis forhis toyota. >> nice stop by matt kenseth. we have innerlayers on the right tires.

matt kenseth, denny hamlin, carl edwards andhere comes marty truex jr. battling joey logano. and hamlin wants the lead.>> he better hurry up and get it. if he stays on it long, he'll get freight-trained.>> i think you got to take advantage of the bottom group early on if your car is turninggood, tires are fresh, the bottom can work really well for you. until the top reallycomes in. that's what denny hamlin is trying to accomplish here.>> peyton, are these cars going around the track, anything about this remind you of football?>> well, obviously the free stuff is a lot different -- prestuff. football, if you'retossing to anybody before the game -- talking to anybody before the game, it means you'rein the focussed. here there's a lot of auction

going on before the race, which has to bea challenge for the driver to get focused. amidst all the requests on these drivers toget focused, get ready do go out and perform and compete. that's impressive to witness.>> it's amazing the amount of distractions tra the drivers have to be prepared for infront of nascar versus other sports. [1:40:52 pm] >> yeah. no doubt. that's a huge difference.>> they go out there and do what they're doing right now.>> well it's an intermural game right now. three of the gibbs toyotas out front, daleearnhardt jr. trying to overcome ignition problems at the start of the race and in thissport, we get to listen in.

>> i'm not sure battery one came disconnectedand we're running on two now. dale, it's good. we went to green. you know, went for it, ihad power warming up the car and all that stuff until we went full throttle.>> we're not going to change the one and two, we're going to stay on one and two.>> well that was, one of the challenges that he's already had. but i tell you another challengehe has right now, he's got much older tires as he makes contact.>> oh man. >> trying to get by a slower car, clint bowyercut him some slack. he let dale junior slide. >> think he might have a little damage, buthe knows he's got to go, knows those leaders on fresher tires are going to be coming ina hurry.
