hello and welcome to pdfsupply.comtoday we're going to be testing a 90-70 relay outputi have here an ic697mdl940 and i have it in an ic697chs750 five slot rack and i'm using, the processor is an ic697cpx772 and the power supply is an ic697pwr711.so, now on the other side of what you can't really see here i'm going to jump over toproficy machine edition and i'm going to open up the test file i have which is the sameexact physical configuration as what you see here in rack 0 or main rack.slot number two i have an mdl940 configured so what i've done is i've gotten the processorinto run mode i'll basically go through that real quick and go to target > online commands> clear > erase controller fault and i/o table

because this is a new request a new configuration, and then i hit download and run once those are cleared and i'm just downloading configurationand logic that's the first two options when it asks you what you want to download andthen of course it's going to allow you to enabled the outputs which we've got goingright here. alright, so back to the mdl940 i have a pre-wiredterminal fixture here for test purposes and what i've done is i have wires that all jumpto these different terminals. the different terminals i'm using is simply anything thatsays v for voltage so two, five, eight, eleven, fifteen, and so on.so anything that says voltage you need to go to the corresponding screw or i shouldpoint out down here thirty-two and thirty-three

screws thirty-nine and forty, there's a pairthere. so you've got to make sure that these areall connected and when they are all connected what i like to do is i have a 24 volt dc becausewhat you're able to do here is twenty-four to two hundred and forty ac or five to onehundred and twenty-five volt dc so i have here this test fixture it's a twenty-fourvolt power supply it's enough so that when i turn on each of the relays i'm able to testthem and i've got the positive lead connected to terminal forty and you can choose any ofthe terminals to have voltage going to i just choose to do terminal forty so that i havepositive lead powering all of these that are interconnected to where it says voltage alrightand then the negative lead is loose alright

so what we're going to do there is i've gota test fixture here which is a twenty-four volt automobile light bulb with probes andwhen it does come time for test after i've turned them all on i'm going to connect thenegative lead from the lights to the negative lead from the power supply and then the positivelead, i'm just going to give you a little test here is going to test all the differentterminals once they've been turned on. okay, another thing i want to point out andyou need to be careful about this is normally opened and normally closed so you have twochannel a one, one of them is normally open which is what's on right now and the otherone is normally closed so that means that number one, when these are not turned on,when these outputs are not turned on then

the normally open should not work so let megive you an example of that really quick because i don't want you to mis-diagnose your unit.normally, if you open a1 which is terminal screw a1 which is right here top right asit's indicated and this should not work if this is working properly so i'm going to gothrough and test all my normally opened and all my normally closed.normally closed is screw number three the next one down so that should turn on becauseit's normally closed. terminal four, normally open. terminal six, just below that normally closed and that's on alright. a3 seven normally open that'snot on a3 normally closed number nine that's on.normally open a4 screw number ten. number

twelve normally closed number 14 normally open it's just below twelve.sixteen normally closed. sixteen and seventeen both respond to thescrews normally open nineteen normally closed thisshould turn on number twenty on the left hand side normally open twenty-two normally closedtwenty-three on the other side right side normally open twenty-five normally closedand we skip a couple here and we're into the c'sc one through four twenty-eight normally open twenty- nine normallyopen thirty normally open thirty-one normally open so then when we turn these on when weturn these to the on position and you hear the click and it indicates here that they'reon we should be able to get a light on like

that the other four is thirty-five excuseme thirty-five thirty-six thirty-seven thirty-eight all normally open okay i'm going to go intomy output table so we can test the rest go under default tables percent q or output ihave mine configured to that address location starting number one so you should hear a clickand there should also be a light that comes on numerals one through four okay sixteen, we have sixteen channels alltogether, it might be difficult to see this but a1 through a4, b1 through b4, c1 throughc4, d1 through d4, alright so let's start with our category at the top again negativelead from the lights, negative lead from the power supply so i can make a complete circuitand we're going to only touch the normally open these are the ones that we weren't ableto do, well we're going to do both so normally

one should be on alright and then terminalnumber three normally closed should be off because the switch has changed terminal numberfour normally open is now closed number six, normally closed so that should be off, sevenshould be on, number nine normally closed and should be off, ten right here normallyopen so far so good, twelve normally closed that shouldn't be working, number fourteensorry number fourteen is here normally open now a closed circuit, sixteen normally closedthat's off, seventeen normally open, nineteen normally closed and that's off, twenty normallyopen, twenty-two normally closed, twenty-three normally open, twenty-five normally closed, and we're going to get into these where all four circuits should be on because they'retypically or normally open and you just close

them as we heard the circuits closing, alrightso twenty-eight on, twenty-nine on, thirty on thirty one on that's right and i'm goingto go to thirty-five thirty-six thirty-seven thirty-eight all normally open now they shouldbe closed closed closed closed closed closed alright so just to reiterate one last timethis can be confusing with the normally open normally closed and sometimes it's misdiagnosedand then they end up here and there's really nothing wrong with them just to clarify normallyopen means that when these circuits are off they're not energized, normally closed meansthat when these circuits are all off they are energized and they should be providingpower. just keep that in mind otherwise if you're not getting a light or you're not gettingthese in the back here to click on or if you

hear them click on you don't have any poweror if all those work and you do have power but when you go to shut it off it won't shutoff it sticks on which is also no good any of those things is a catastrophic problemwith the device and it's something that we can easily repair here, we offer exchangeprograms new and re-manufactured units so if that's something that interests you orsomething that you need, please see at www.pdfsupply.com thank you.
