hi againso today i want to share another trick on how to maximize your samsung galaxy s4for you who haven't seen my previous video go check it out so the thing isi was quite surprised i bought this 16 gb device and expected tohave 14 or 15 gb storage when i first plugged it in into the computer, what i saw i only have 8 gb leftthat's a half of the storage one thing to keep in mind with the galaxys4 is that it's advertised storageisn't what you'll get
and what makes this even more depressingis it doesn't allow you to install any application in the external sdcardyou can have external sdcard but you use it only for storing music picturesbut not for applications all of your applications that you throw in will takeup space a bit deceiving right? but if you have root access to your galaxys4 it's easy to trick android into thinkingyour data is still on the internal memory even though it's been copied to your externalmemory here i decided to go with 32gb external storagethe sandisk class 10
why class10well speed of course the faster your sd cardthe better you load the applications and the less juice power it will consume so here's what i'm gonna doi'm gonna use an application called link2sd to link all the applicationfrom the internal memory to the external memory have in mind that you have to first make atleast 2 partitions to your sdcard you can use any partition program from yourpc like mini tool for examplei'm not gonna show you how because doing so will wipe your sdcardso you insert your sd card to a card reader
and open iton your computer open mini tool in your computerlocate your sd card and create this partitionfirst create fat32 primary partition this is where all your media files will goin my case i make it 25g. next you create an ext2/ext3/ext4 partitionif you're on stock rom choose ext2 this is where your apps will goi suggest a value of 512 mega bytes but if you insist you can go as high as 2giga bytes make sure that it is both set to primary becauseit will not work if it is not set to primary after that, put back your sd card to yourphone and
switch it onnow once your sdcard is in there you go ahead and download link2sdit's a free application in the play store now you open itand you will be prompted to choose between ext2, ext3, ext4 and fat32it will say mount script created reboot your phone nowmanually reboot your phone now after rebootingyou go ahead and open again link2sd now go to settings uncheck everythingnow you can move your applications to external sdcard one by oneit takes time of course but this is the trickto make everything moved and linked fast you
can do thisopen root explorer if you don't have it you can download it fromplay store yo go to this folderslash data select app, dalvic-cache and datayou copy all them and move them to sdext2 foldernow we have all the three folders we just movedto make them linked long click the folderlink to this folder go back to slash data folder and create linknow do the same for the rest 2 folders now you can see in the link2sdall the applications are moved and linked
voila now every application or game containsinstallation and offline data i mean for exampleif you installed nfs game like this it will use up your memory like 20 or 40 megabytes only and this applications you can move it to yourexternal sdcard by using link2sd applicationthe one i show you just now but to be able to play this gameyou still have to download what is so called dataan offline data that is almost 1,2 giga bytesso how to move this data
you use foldermountagain this can be downloaded free from playstore and you can move up to 3 data to externalsd card. again what this will do isit allows you to move applications or games dataonto your external sdcard and hook it back upso the android cannot tell the difference as to where its beingactually stored and saved. it's in external sdcard but you trick androidinto thinking your data is still on the internal memoryso let's go ahead and open foldermount. click the plus sign on the top right cornergive any name here
let's name it nfs gameselect a source directory that you want to move files fromthis should be somewhere in your internal sdcardusually located at this path android data and this must be itfoldermount will offer to move the files to the destinationclick yes after the moving process is done click onthe pin if the pin is green you're all set.now i already linked my applications using link2sdand move my data using foldermount all this work together to trick android intothinking
your data is still on the internal memorylet's take a look at my storage now i've got 8 giga bytes free out of 8 availableit's like you don't use your internal memory at alland that's good so that's all for nowgood bye
